A gable is the triangular section of wall at the end of your pitched roof. The gable includes the eaves of your roof to its peak. Buildings can have multiple gables depending on their structure.

Without a gable, water collects at the intersection of a wall and your roof. Adding a gable is accomplished in two ways: by extending your roof out over the walls in eaves, or by raising the walls above your roof.
